Bradford at Madison has introduced Hero’s Path, a program specifically tailored for veterans and military personnel who are dealing with substance use issues. This program is a part of the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VA CCN) and is covered by TRICARE, making it accessible for those in the military community. Hero’s Path can be found at four Bradford Healthcare residential treatment facilities, including our Madison campus.
This unique program addresses the particular challenges that come with substance abuse in the military. It’s about more than just treatment; it’s about building a community. The environment is designed to be supportive, where people can share experiences and heal together. The therapy and treatment plans are specifically geared toward the kind of stress, trauma, and situations that military members might face.
“We have found that Veterans respond best to being treated with other Veterans,” says Angela Camp, CEO, Bradford at Madison. “They have shared experiences that have bonded them for life and feel much more comfortable speaking and sharing with others who have also lived through similar experiences.”
The team behind Hero’s Path includes medical and clinical professionals and those in recovery support roles, with many military veteran team members. This shared experience can be incredibly valuable in creating a supportive atmosphere.
